Meet the Doctors

Introducing the husband and wife team of Dr. Michael Bourgoin and Dr. Jean Yoo.

Dr. Michael Bourgoin was born in Washington, D.C., and grew up in Rochester, N.Y. He enrolled in college at SUNY at Potsdam and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences. He ventured to Berkeley, California, to the University of California, Berkeley. He earned his doctorate degree in optometry in 1992 with honors. Dr. Bourgoin has a wide range of experience in optometry prior to acquiring his practice in 2002, which has been established since 1960.
  

He loves practicing optometry because of the opportunity to do something to help people. "Genuinely caring about our patients makes the job more satisfying. I enjoy getting to know the families and seeing them year after year. Some have been coming here for 40 years or more." Dr. Bourgoin is a specialist in Low Vision, which involves a deeper understanding in helping patients with impaired vision and blindness.

Dr. Jean Yoo
  

Dr. Jean Yoo, who is married to Dr. Bourgoin, joined their practice in 2003 after practicing for ten years in Orange County. Dr. Yoo was born in Seoul, Korea, and grew up in West Los Angeles. She attended the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she earned her degree in Biological Sciences. Dr. Yoo received her doctorate degree in optometry from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1993. She lives in South Orange County with her husband and children. She practices optometry part time at the practice...and works full time caring for their three sons. "I am so blessed to have a career that I love that allows me to be a help to people."
